Happy Belated Memorial Day!  We are just a few days past the holiday, so on this Thoughtful Thursday we will extend the celebration with a few inspirational quotes honoring the men and women in the military who have died while serving our country.

Have you talked with your children about the significance of Memorial Day, and how much the country owes to the men and women who have served in the military?  They need to know that there’s more to Memorial Day than barbecues and sanctioning the wearing of summer whites!   You can use these quotes to start some of these important conversations. Share them with your children and enjoy.

“Without memory, there is no culture. Without memory there would be no civilization, no future.”       Elie Wiesel

“Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of readiness to die.”     G.K. Chesterton
